There’s a simplicity and beauty to flowers. They are ephemeral, and stunning both in the landscape, and when considered close up. There’s also a satisfaction to capturing that ephemeral beauty sympathetically as well as accurately.
I still have in my possession the original lens that came with my Olympus OM 10 35mm SLR. With the help of an adapter it fits my modern digital camera. But there’s a feel to the older optics that suits this kind of image. It softens the razor like sharpness produced by modern lenses, and produces an image rather more in keeping with the subject.
